About Us

Edu-Center is a diagnostic and treatment center specifically designed to help children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing difficulties with learning, speech, language and/or behavioral issues. Services of Edu-Center are provided at our offices, in homes, and in schools. Our professional team includes Educational Therapists, academic tutors and diagnosticians. These specialists have joined together to provide their clients with comprehensive evaluation and treatment of learning and attention-related problems.

Bruce Holzband

placeholderBruce, who has more than 40 years work experience with in the area of special education, is the director of education and evaluation services of Edu-Center, a diagnostic and treatment center in Houston designed to help children, teenagers, college students and adults experiencing educational and/or behavioral difficulties. Edu-Center uses a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment. When a child first visits Holzband analyzes his current and past educational history. If necessary, he measures the student’s academic and intellectual abilities. He then develops an intervention plan designed to help his clients reach success. He has an expertise in the area of remediation, diagnostics and treatment of specific learning disabilities and learning issues.

Prior to founding Edu-Center in 1992, Holzband worked in various capacities with numerous school districts for more than 25 years. As an administrator, he planned and managed programs for learning disabled, emotionally disturbed and gifted students. In addition, he has he worked as a Special Education Resource System Coordinator, Special Education Staff Development coordinator and Personnel Preparation Specialist.

Andrea Holzband

placeholderAndrea is a Speech-Language therapist for Edu-Center. Andrea has 35 years working with children ages 18 months to 15 years old, and began her career as an early childhood educator. She specializes in communication disorders, including problems with articulation, receptive and expressive language, phonological disorders, early literacy skills, and reading comprehension. Her expertise also extends to guidance with oraganizational skills, written language and social skills. Holzband employs multi-disciplinary approach to treatment, combining education, training, psychology and medicine.

Holzband utilizes speech and language diagnostics to identify a child’s strengths and weaknesses; she consults with the child’s parents to discuss test results, making recommendations and providing therapy when needed. She explores all aspects of a child’s environment, including consultations with the child’s teachers and classroom visits, both of which are important to the assessment of each child.
